Since 1998, the enduring success of the Classical Text Editor project has partly been due to its independence from public funding, development costs being covered by license fees.
Once this model should no longer be feasible, the code will be made publicly available under the European Union Public License, version 1.2 (EUPL-1.2). In case the author should not be able to prepare this transition himself, it will be managed by TELOTA at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
