Optimal alignment of polytonic Greek texts requires the accents and breathing marks before uppecase letters to be placed left to the left margin. Only in this way will the letters look nicely aligned.
The same effect can be applied to text in other scripts, in order to avoid uneven margins caused by quotation marks.
